Man sentenced over horrific neglect and abuse at Bay piggery
In a case of severe animal neglect at Uster Rangers Hill Piggery in Rocklands, state-funded farmer Mufaya was prosecuted after 88 pigs, 19 geese, and 6 chickens were left to starve, resulting in numerous deaths before intervention by animal welfare organizations AACL and SPCA. Mufaya, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to a R20,000 fine or 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and ordered to pay R10,000 towards the societies' costs.
