“Before we initiate any designing project, the first thing we must consider is who are we designing for, what is the general design direction and what is the general orientation,” says Hakan Saracoglu, a legendary automotive designer who designed the Jetour Dashing.
This Turkish-born German national worked for 15 years at Porsche, where he helped design the exteriors for models including the 918 Spyder, Boxster and Cayman. Today he brings to the automotive world SUVs that really stand out in their segment.
Introduced to the world in 2022, and in South Africa towards the end of 2024, is one such SUV – the Jetour Dashing. With a commanding presence, its bold, futuristic design sets it apart from competitors within its segment.
Saracoglu says that the Jetour Dashing is for the new generation of drivers who have their own tastes, preferences, and personalities. As such, this 5-seater SUV is tailored for city life with an emphasis on style and modern features.
Reviews about the design of the Jetour Dashing from around the world note its confident and modern contemporary styling, its sharp LED headlights and wide and chrome‑accented grille. The Dashing’s smooth, sculpted body lines create a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette giving the Dashing a sportier look overall and emphasises a more dynamic persona than many typical SUVs.
The design of the vehicle’s rear echoes the coupe‑inspired front, with the rear wing and digital taillights further enhancing its sporty feel. 19‑inch alloy wheels add a premium and sporty stance.
Inside, the Jetour Dashing blends modern minimalism with advanced technology. Integrated touchscreen controls, ambient lighting and a clean, digital-focused dashboard create a sophisticated, futuristic feel, while soft-touch surfaces and contrast stitching in higher trims add to its appeal.
More than just its striking design, the vehicle features intelligent safety systems that anticipate potential hazards, helping drivers stay confident on the road.
Available locally in six colours, including Onyx Black, Crimson Red, Glacier White, Ash Grey, Forest Green and Slate Grey, the Momentum model is priced at R439 900, and the Deluxe trim at R469 900.
Initial sales of the Jetour Dashing, alongside the 7-seater X70 Plus which was launched at the same time, saw Jetour ranking 15th among all new vehicle sales in South Africa by July 2025. The brand has since introduced two new models, the Jetour T1 and T2 in their T-Series, which has further increased sales and seen the brand now ranking 11th overall last month.
