DA opens nominations for top leadership posts
DA National Spokesperson Karabo Khakhau says the nomination window runs until the 23rd of March.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) says the window is open for party members to be nominated for positions ahead of the party’s elective congress on the 11th of April.
DA Deputy leader in the Western Cape, Geordin Hill-Lewis, has been nominated as a candidate for the position of DA Federal Leader.
The announcement was made in Elsies River on the Cape Flats earlier Friday.
Hill-Lewis says he’s under no illusion about the task at hand as he contests the party’s leadership position.
His nomination comes after current leader, John Steenhuisen, said that he would not be standing for re-election at the DA’s elective conference.
DA National Spokesperson Karabo Khakhau says the nomination window runs until the 23rd of March.
“Announcements were made today at 07:00 that nominations are opened for all DA members who wish to contest any positions…and so these nominations are opened as from 07:00 today up until the 23rd of March. So, any and all party members who want to contest the position of leader, the position of Federal Chairperson, the three deputies, the finance chairperson, the chairperson of Federal Council and the three deputy chairpersons of Federal Council obviously will then submit their nominations. The protocol is that you must have a nominator and a seconder for the proposal.”
