Nandipha Magudumana’s brother, Nkosinathi Sekeleni, has been charged with attempted murder after his alleged assault on a man he accused of trying to rob him.

He appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 9 February, alongside two other men.

The incident took place over the weekend.

NANDIPHA MAGUDUMANA’S BROTHER ARRESTED OVER ATTEMPTED MURDER

On Monday, Nkosinathi Sekeleni and two other men made an appearance at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.

The trio are accused of assaulting a man who attempted to rob them over the weekend.

According to reports, the charges were upgraded from grievous assault to attempted murder over the extent of the victim’s injuries.

They will return to court in March pending further investigation in the case.

Sekeleni – the brother of Nandipha Magudumana – is a professional TV news camera operator who once worked for the now-defunct Summit TV.

He has made headlines after he appeared in Showmax documentary, Tracking Thabo Bester, where he documented his account of his sibling’s interaction with the convicted murderer, rapist, and fraudster.

According to reports, he was paid R30 000 for his tell all.

EXTORTION TOO?

Shortly after Nandipha Magudumana and Thabo Bester’s arrest in 2023, her brother Nkosinathi Sekeleni was accused of attempting to extort her for R100 000 over her relationship with the convicted criminal.

The celebrity aesthetics doctor has been charged with helping Bester, her alleged lover, escape prison in 2022.

She and several others are also facing other charges like defeating the ends of justice, violating a dead body, and harbouring and concealing an escaped prisoner.

Her sibling reportedly knew of her relationship with Bester after he exposed the news in a 2021 Facebook post.

In the post, Sekeleni outed his sister for dating Thabo Bester, dubbed the “Facebook Rapist.” The TV cameraman claimed he deleted the post shortly after posting it, after his sister, Nandipha Magudumana, charged him with defamation of character.

In the wake of Nandipha’s arrest, Sekeleni was accused of trying to extort Nandipha by demanding R100 000 from her. According to eNCA, he also threatened to expose his sister should she not pay up.

But Nandipha refused, and Nathi allegedly reported her to the Hawks.

Sekeleni claimed the threat was made a day before his Facebook post while reportedly under the influence.

He told the news channel: “I was intoxicated, and I don’t even remember what I was doing because of all the emotions I was going through.”

Sekeleni also denied claims that his Facebook post was an act of revenge. He continued: “I was going to post anyway because of the suspicions I had.”
