Maluti-A-Phofung Mayor removed after no confidence vote

The African National Congress’s (ANC) Maluti-A-Phofung Mayor in the Free State Malekula Melato has been removed through a motion of no confidence.
Paratlane Motloung of MAP16 Civic Movement has been elected as the new mayor.
A statement by the municipality’s communications unit says 30 councillors voted in favour of the motion and none opposed.
Melato’s removal happened in a council sitting marred by violence and flying chairs following her failed High Court bid to interdict the council from voting her out.
