FF-Plus lauds the decision to suspend Gauteng Health HOD
FF-Plus believes the decision to suspend Malotana a sign of enforcing accountability.

The Freedom Front Plus (FF-Plus) believes the decision by Premier Panyaza Lesufi to suspend the head of department for Gauteng Health, Dr Lesiba Malotana, is a sign of enforcing accountability by the provincial government.
Lesufi’s office confirmed Malotana’s suspension with immediate effect today.
This comes as the SIU is scaling up its probe into widespread maladministration and corruption at the Tembisa hospital in Ekurhuleni.
The party’s Advocate Anton de Waal Alberts, says, “The suspension of the HOD of the Gauteng Health Department is a step in the right direction for accountability. The acts (of) maladministration, fraud, and the murder of the whistleblower Babita Deokaran took place under the leadership of the HOD. Further, there’s sufficient evidence that the HOD might have participated in the taking and sharing of bribes. That still needs to be investigated properly,” says Alberts.

The Activists and Citizens Forum believes the suspension of Malotana, is a step in the right direction. However, the forum says it would like to see more action taken against corrupt officials.
This comes after Premier Panyaza Lesufi’s office announced that Malotana, had been suspended with immediate effect.
In a statement, the premier said Dr Darion Barclay had been appointed to act in Malotana’s position.
The forum’s spokesperson, Dennis Bloem says suspension alone is not sufficient.
“But we are saying not only foot soldiers that must be rounded up. We demand that the ring leaders must be arrested for the corruption which is taking place in that department in Gauteng. We must see politicians taking responsibility and being arrested for looting of taxpayer’s money. We know that this is not only taking place at Tembisa hospital,” says Bloem.
