Commission adjourns amid tech issues during Witness X’s testimony
The Madlanga Commission is probing allegations of criminality in the criminal justice system.
The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria has adjourned and will return on Thursday morning. The evidence of Witness X, which was read into the record by evidence leader Adv Adila Hassim, ended a day early.
Witness X, who was giving their evidence remotely through an intermediary, did not conclude his testimony after a technical problem that the commission believes could have compromised his life.
The inquiry is probing allegations of criminality, political interference, and corruption in the criminal justice system.
The Commission’s Chairperson Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga says, “Preparations towards the argument, if there will be argument, we are still going to decide that, but there will be preparations in terms of the outstanding filings, which include the filing of written submissions. So, that’s to take place tomorrow, outside of the session, obviously.”
